Roulette is one of the oldest gambling and casino game enjoyed by many. It’s very easy to play and requires no skill. The game originated in France and started in the 18th century. Roulette means small in wheel in French, which is also the main focus of the game. The game has spread through Europe and America. Although the basics in American and European roulette are essentially the same, the layout of the wheel is different. European roulette uses a single zero wheel while Americans uses a double zero wheel. In American roulette, there is another green pocket marked 00. Most casinos around the world use the American roulette.

Objective of the Game

In simple terms, the objective of the game is to bet on a number or its characteristic that the ball will land on in the pockets of the wheel when the spin ends. In American roulette, there are 38 numbered and colored pockets. Players can bet on a number, a range of numbers, odd or even and color red or black. The croupier or dealer spins the wheel in one direction then the ball on another. The ball runs on a tilted track around the circumference of the wheel. The spin gradually decreases, and the ball eventually lands in one of the colored numbered pockets. Adjacent to the wheel is a felt table containing the number where the players can bet heir chips. Each player has his or her own color of chips to avoid confusion. A typical roulette game can accommodate six to eight players.

Players can choose to bet inside which consists of numbers or outside which consists of groupings, colors or whether it is odd or even. The odds of getting a payout depend on the probability of each type of bet.
